Oamaru stone Memorials
These memorials are hand carved one off pieces set on granite
Every now and then I get the chance to carve memorials. And this is where I offer them to whānau if a piece connects.
The stone I carve for these taonga is Oamaru limestone. Oamaru stone is a natural limestone cut out of the hills of Oamaru in the bottom of the South Island. It is a heavy, durable stone that once sealed makes a long lasting, stunning headstone / memorial.
Every carving block holds its own grain and natural colors. Making each carving very much individual and one off.
Oamaru stone, like any other natural stone does have to be maintained from time to time. Such as spraying a moss killer on the stone every now & then to keep its natural look.
Every piece is fully sealed before pickup by whānau
